Public Meeting

The meeting was deemed a success with over 50 visitors. The feedback recorded 100 percent support, grades being between 4 and 5 out of 5.

Design Phase

Officers have met with the architect Mr David Darkin in preparation for making a planning application to the County Council. The process is running a few weeks late as reports are awaited from the quantity and electrical engineers. The structural engineer will visit the site next week.

It is hoped that following this a planning application will be made.

Logo Competition

The competition entries were judged by the Chair and Mrs Dorothy Morris.

The winner was announced to be David Smith of Iscoed Cottage. The logo will be used on our websites and Facebook following consultation with the chair about possible minor changes. The design was based on the concept of “Dyfodol Fferi Future”.

Charity registration

Colin Butters reported that progress was being made, but the Commission emphasized that our aims would need to be purely charitable and recommended a model proposed for Charitable Incorporated Organisations.

It was recommended that the trustees should discuss the matter with the Charity Commission. Further work needs to be done to separate off any commercial interests such as the Dr’s Surgery and Hostel into a separate “Not for Profit”organization. Ms Wendy James recommended that the advice of CAVS be sought and this was agreed along with the Chair suggestion for consulting a local expert in the field.

Treasurers Report

Balance £6,495.59, interest £0.42, petty cash £82.60

The Chair is organizing a meeting between officers and Sarah Kessel, CO of West Wales Wildlife fund who is interested in getting involved.

No response has yet been received from the Alzheimer’s association at Ammanford! although, the local MP Jonathan Edwards is still pursuing the issue. He has also arranged for us to meet up with the County Social Services chief Mr Bruce McLernon to discuss appropriate links and developments. Mrs Jill Furniss offered to renew contacts with Hywel Dda health board in respect of our Wellbeing framework.

Sports Club

Although there is agreement in principle with the County Council for the Sports Club to Access the Main Hall and toilets at the Education Centre, contract for the lease is still awaited. The Chair recommended that a memorandum of understanding be drawn up and offered to help progress the agreement. Hopefully, Cllr Mair Stephens can also help.

Next AGM will be on Monday 20th of January at the White Lion Hotel. The meeting will be public and advertised in the usual manner and with local posters and will be followed by a routine meeting.
